Although hAND can be loosely described as a Prog band, when you peel back the aural layers, you’ll find a definitive edge that sets the band firmly apart from its contemporary counterparts. Progressive and heavy, yet accessible, hAND have unearthed a sound that is innovative and engrossing. They call to mind the thoughtful webby depths of ‘Opeth’, meshed with the proggy groove of ‘Amplifier’ and the gothic guile of ‘Paradise Lost’. Acutely marrying carefully formed visceral guitar parts, dynamic drums, and alluring vocals, hAND have a strong focus and a clear vision of what they want to produce.
“Esoteric Antenna is pleased to announce the release of “SIGNAL TO NOISE”, the new studio album by twice Grammy nominated PINK FLOYD engineer ANDY JACKSON. “Signal to Noise” is a fine, modern, progressive work, which draws on Andy Jackson’s exemplary work as an engineer and producer. Besides being an allusion to Andy’s sound engineering background, the title refers to many of the lyrical themes of the album. Andy explains; “The album reflects on the sorting of what is important in life from the humdrum of everyday existence, and is in itself an analogy for the process of the creation of the album”.
Andy Jackson began his career at Utopia Studios in London, training under James Guthrie, a relationship that continues to this day with the duo being co-pilots of Pink Floyd’s sound. Andy had success as a recording engineer at Utopia, including hits with Boomtown Rats “I Don’t Like Mondays” and Spandau Ballet’s “Chant No. One”, before the call came from James Guthrie to follow him into the world of Pink Floyd, to work on the film of “The Wall”, an offer he couldn’t resist, having been a Floyd fan for many years. So started a relationship that continues to this day, (on albums such as “The Final Cut”, “A Momentary Lapse of Reason”, “The Division Bell”, “Pulse”, Roger Waters’ “The Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking”, David Gilmour’s “About Face”, “On An Island”, “Live in Gdansk”), resulting in two Grammy nominations for his work and Mix magazine’s award for best live sound engineer for “Pulse” tour. He is also engineer and a co-producer of the yet-to-be- released Pink Floyd album, “The Endless River”.
Along side his work with Pink Floyd and wider work as an engineer, he has recorded three albums, recorded with friends, as a musician in his own right: “On the Surface”, “Obvious” and “Mythical Burrowing Animals”. All three works were ideas ahead of their time it would seem. He did find time along the way to produce work for other artists, including the seminal British Goth band Fields Of The Nephilim. This again was the genesis of a relationship that would lead to the present day, after ex Nephilim Tony Pettitt asked Andy to join his new band The Eden House as guitarist. After three years with Eden House, Andy felt it was time to move on & embark on a new challenge of a completely solo album project. This has lead to the creation of the “Signal to Noise” album, a wonderful sonic experience that is sure to Andy Jackson heralded as a significant creative force in modern Progressive music. “Signal to Noise” is released on Monday 3rd November 2014 as both a single CD edition and a two-disc Digipack deluxe limited edition with a 5.1 Surround Mix.”

“Sanctuary is the fulfilment of a lifetime’s dream and ambition in music Rob Reed has held since first hearing Tubular Bells in 1973 at the age of seven. Last year, he decided to focus his abilities on creating his own one-man project.
The album is played, produced, mixed and engineered by Reed and he’s brought in Oldfield collaborators Tom Newman and Simon Heyworth, who respectively co-produced and mastered the new work.
Reed learned to play all the instruments used on the record – grand piano, guitars, bass, mandolin, glockenspiel, vibraphone, marimba, timpani, banjo, recorders, organ – and… tubular bells ! The Synergy Vocals choir, singer Anghared Brinn and some extra percussion by Tom Newman completed the picture.
Rob says: “I wanted to play all the instruments, and for them all to be real – no synthesisers. The next four weeks were a bit of a blur as the music just came out. It turned out to be the most enjoyable album I’ve made.” Conscious of the need to be inspired by Mike Oldfield’s iconic album, rather than just copying it, Reed adds “I worked hard to make the melodies stand on their own.”
And the result has reaped dividends, with Rob noting Heyworth’s reactions: “He told me that when he heard it, he closed his eyes and he was back in Manor Studios in 1973.”
Rob is hopeful that the two-part piece can be performed live with a 12-piece band soon.
Sanctuary was released on July 21 via Tigermoth Records on CD and DVD 5.1. A 180g vinyl is available via Plane Groovy, and each copy comes with a download coupon.”
