The Top 10 Prog Albums of 2012 – as selected by the DPRP writers

Show number 73 – first broadcast on 31st December 2012

To wrap-up the year we again creat a special 90-minute show featuring the Top 10 albums of 2012 – as selected by the DPRP writers.

We asked 28 of our prog-scribes to select their personal favourites of the year. A total of 70 different albums were chosen – we play you the 10 that gathered the most votes. Some old favourites and some brand-new names, some heavy, some light but all of the highest quality. Tune in to find out which albums got our top marks.

You can Listen Again to the Podcast online here. No playlist this week – as that would spoil the fun!

We are delighted to announce that the first DPRP Progressive Rock and Metal Radio Show will go out next Monday 12th September.

Covering artists from across the progressive spectrum, the show aims to add another dimension to the detailed coverage DPRP gives to the genre.
There will be an hour show every week plus one or two specials each month featuring more detailed looks at specific genres or artists and helping to promote major festivals.
In addition to new releases, we will bring you previews of yet-to-be released albums, interviews with key artists and even studio guests. We’ve a stack of rare or hard-to-find material we can’t wait to play as well.
You will be able to listen to the DPRP Radio Show online at any time and any place. You will also be able to download it as the DPRP Prog-cast to listen to on mobile devices.
The show will be broadcast live every Monday 22.00 UK Time via a UK-based radio station which has agreed to host this project. People can listen live via its website www.stroudfm.co.uk
The show will then be available as a Listen Again Prog-cast the following day.  Shows will be available for up to three months.
The show will be hosted by long-standing DPRP contributor Andy Read; a former Mayor of Stroud and a journalist for more than 20 years.
