Mike Oldfield has finished recording his new album.
So far, the album has neither a title, nor a release date, although various Mike Oldfield websites have been awash with reports that he has been working on a new rock album for at least a year.
Now bassist Leland Sklar, who appears on the new album (as do drummer John Robinson and a gospel choir) has just announced: “Killer band, fab producer, great engineer and second, and a very cool artist with great songs for us to dig our teeth into. Everyone brought their ‘A’ game”.
The album, produced by Steve Lipson, was recorded in London and Los Angeles. And it will be released later in the year, after the reissues of 1982’s Five Miles Out (which will come in CD/DVD, Deluxe and box set formats) and 83’s Crises (a five CD box set). Both have been remastered, and are to be put out on September 2.
