Coheed And Cambria - image source NMECoheed And Cambria have announced new album details. The Afterman will be a double album, but split into two full length releases. The first installment, The Afterman: Ascension, will be released in early October this year and the second part, The Afterman: Descension, in February 2013. The Afterman follows up 2010′s well received The Black Rainbow.

Following in the footsteps of the band’s previous works both albums are set within the alternative universe of ‘Heaven’s Fence’ and are part of a long-term storyline entitled ‘The Amory Wars’.

Of the album Claudio Sanchez says: “This is without a doubt, the most honest record I’ve ever written. Though all the songs can be interpreted through our main character in the story, they were initially written in a very spontaneous manner”…

…” In the past, I’ve always had a predetermined idea of what the story was going to be when I approached the songs. With ‘The Afterman’ being a new story within ‘The Amory Wars’ arc, I allowed the events of my life to drive the concept, and therefore opened up the songwriting to a fuller degree.”

Changes in the line-up sees the return of drummer Josh Eppard along with new bassist Zach Cooper. They replace Chris Pennie and Michael Todd respectively.

At the end of October and early November the band will be undertake a few shows in Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, France and The UK…
