Jordan Rudess of Dream Theatre and his command over the 88 Key Korg digital keyboards like the M50? Surely if he were around in the days of Beethoven and Bach, he would have had no problem keeping up with the masters. This is because it's not the technology that makes or breaks the musician...

As a Canadian I`m a little bias when I say Rush should have been elected sooner but never the less I really hope this will open the doors for more "prog"bands. This genre is so overlooked by not only the general public but by a lot of musicians as well. I have been a musician(bass player 35 + yrs),another reason for my appreciation of Rush, and it frustrates me how a lot of my peers are completely unaware of most prog bands. It amazes me how anyone who plays a musical instrument can not at least appreciate what they are hearing. Yes and King Crimson are instrumental (sorry) in bringing this music forward and should be acknowledged as well as many others.

Roger Waters refers to the occupation of the West Bank, which had been part of the country of Jordan. Anyone who is aware of history, knows that there would be no "occupation" if Israel had not been attacked by Jordan in 1967. israel won that territory defending itself. No wall would have been built if Arab terrorists were not sneaking into Israel and killings hunters of Israelis. According to the news blurb above, he accuses Israel of occupying Gaza. Israel pulled out of Gaza years ago. There is no Israeli presence in Gaza.

Perhaps you say, "give peace a chance"and relinquish the West Bank territory. Israel did that in Gaza, and the results was and still is, thousands of missiles fired from Gaza at innocent people in Israel.

Roger Waters, a truly bitter man, has been a hater of Israel since day one. He cannot even get along with his former band mates, yet preaches political idealism.

Apartheid means that there are laws legislated against segments of the population. This is not the case in Israel. Arabs vote and have full voting rights and even serve in the Israeli Knesset. Women, gays, and members of every minority enjoy full rights in Israel. This cannot be said of any Moslem country where Sharia is the law.

Why no political movement against that Mr. Waters? Are you not for Gay Rights and Equal Rights for women? Go play your music in Iran and preach you political beliefs. Lets see if you come home with your head still attached to your body.

I have been a progressive music fan since 1971. Andy's statement about the TANGENT'S difficulties is so unfortunate to read here. I am certain Andy's future TANGENT operation will be a consistent quality as it always has been.
If Andy HAD been around in 1971 with Caravan, et cetera, he would be included with the SOFTS, EGG, MATCHING MOLE in the same breath!
I recall reading about the travisty involving the release of the live DVD. Andy stated then as soon as it hit the market, it was duplicated through uploading/ downloading , and money was lost.
I loved Andy's inclusive fan gimic for COMM- that is, creating a contest for a solo from listeners- and the winner's music is added to the song!
If I had the money Andy....those POWERBALL lottery odds here in the US- keep it as just a wish. I'll keep trying though!
At the first ROSFEST in 2004, the TANGENT put on a stellar show, and I have been a fan ever since. I follow so many progressive bands, as is my want, and this time in the progressive rock timeline has been one of the greatest eras for the genre, in my humble opinion!
We all know the commercial drivell that is on radio stations is PRODUCT.
The TANGENT is music.
Thanks Andy, for your genuine care for fellow musicians, and fans worldwide!

This is seriously disturbing. Is it indicative of the future for all bands? Absolutely. As austerity measures for all nations kick in, governments from the local to the national levels are looking for more revenue sources, and in America, it won't be long until consumption taxes kick in, and per mile taxes are levied for drivers/equipment, adding to the already high fuel prices. It has become a zero sum game for musicians to travel long distances, and so the future looks amazingly like collaborations between musicians will be cloud based, and music itself will become a cottage industry, except for talentless and classless "Disney" bands that tour to adoring pre pubescents eager to hear Justin Bieber tell them that they love them, and hack jobs like Nicky Minaj to shake their surgically altered bums at the crowd and sell merchandise. The record companies were to blame for starting this nonsense due to their stubborn refusals to adapt to current technology, but we are to blame for the continuance of the over-all decline in recording sales due to the ease of downloading. It has become a norm, and no one can survive by giving free music all the time to people with no reimbursement. And so, deserving bands like the Tangent are forced to address the laws of diminishing returns by simply dis-banding. I regret that our lifestyles and demand for "choices" have become so insular that it has come to this. This is really awful news.

Roger touring the UK....... Going home again really does happen..... I recently heard a short radio spot announcing Roger's "Breakfast in America" tour that continues will continue into 2013 . The biggest announcement, a tour of the UK! What has stayed in my heart from the spot was the almost surprise of the radio professional had regarding Roger not having a new album out and in fact touring very successfully (many dates and sold out venues) worldwide for the last 10 years on the strength of a body of work that is over 30 years old.

All you need to do is close your eyes and open them quickly to realize the sound you hear at a Roger Hodgson concert is fresh and new! He plays his music such precision and completeness what you experience is undeniably perfection in motion! So go, see, experience Roger's magic for yourself, you will understand the strength of the body of his work for yourself and will return again and again to feel his music for yourself.

His website for upcoming dates: http://www.rogerhodgson.com/documents/tour.html
