I was very fortunate to be invited to the final mixing of the new echolyn double album titled simply “echolyn” and had the chance to listen to the entire album WITH echolyn at the studio – it was quite an experience!

Commercial suicide after the hit-album AGIN?? What is there VDGG about an album without PH singing? I still can´t forget David jackson altrough the splendid AGIN album but without two of the essential elements, there is no VDGG anymore, sorry. If I want to listen to instrumental music I rather prefere Univers Zero and or Present ( the band, not the VDGG cd)

Famous for it’s legendary ’70′s – 80’s rock concerts and ‘Proms In The Park’, in June 2012 both the rock and the pomp returns to the stunningly beautiful and easily accessible Crystal Palace Park bowl for a 2 day event in the park’s Concert Bowl; a natural and picturesque amphitheatre set beside a scenic lake that, has a fine tradition as a music festival space. Previously fielding the likes of Rock and music Legends: Pink Floyd, Yes, Jeff Beck, Lou Reed, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Santana, the Beach Boys, Rod Stewart and Bob Marley and the Wailers and many many others as well as the Cure more recently.

Saturday sees rock return to it’s 70′s – 80’s roots with legendary keyboard maestro Rick Wakeman (pictured), Hawkwind, Focus, Strawbs, Curved Air and others to be Announced,

In addition to the music both days will also feature other attractions, including comedy in the maze, funfair rides, performance artists, many other fun attractions and diversions as well as a mouth watering selection of food and drink.

Rick’s band will be what is considered to be the “Classic English Rock Ensemble” line-up.

Ashley Holt on vocals , who was the original vocalist on Journey to the Centre of the Earth, King Arthur and No Earthly Connection.
on drums will be Tony “Greasy Wop” Fernandez who has been pretty much ever present since 1975.
Rick’s first choice guitarist Dave Colquhoun has been in the band for 8 years and Lee Pomeroy, considered by many to be the finest prog rock bass player for decades has been with the band for 12 years.

As regards the music…….very much the classic stuff done big with more than a few surprises thrown in for good measure . Guaranteed will be pieces froim the Six Wives of Henry VIII , Journey to the Centre of the Earth and King Arthur.

This will be the EXCLUSIVE performance in the UK in 2012 and the bands first since the Cropredy Festival three years ago, for which they received truly sensational reviews.

While I had been looking forward to this release I am not sure now that I can in conscience support a Chris Squire project given his cavalier attitude to the Yes line-up. First Jon gets canned for being ill, then Adam gets the push because Trevor wants to bring his Buggles mate in, then when Benoit is ill and agrees a leave of absence, he is sacked. Don’t know about the legal issues but to me Jon should be the owner of the Yes legacy while they have been at their best with Rick in the lineup. Perhaps if they could have persuaded Bill out of retirement Steve Hackett would have been better served on a new ABWH album.

Can”t wait for it. I actually own the 1st recording on vinyl. I was able to fianlly get it on CD through e-bay without paying a fortune. It came with the full package( ie lyrics, credets front and back cover and bonus tracks). I got the 4th one as well through Amazon, again for a very reasonable price. Thankfully Blind Faith is avalable through itunes. I still have to say that the 1st recording still gives me the chills esp. the 1st. track with Glenn Hughes. I’ve got to say, that was my 1st. introduction to Mr. Hughes, and I have been of fan of his since, all the way up to his new group BCC. I look forward to the on going saga that is Phenomena.

That’s an extremely impressive line-up! I’d really love to go, but there’s one big problem…

Kingston is just a couple of miles away from Wimbledon, so why in Gabriel’s name did they pick the dates of the Men’s and Ladies’ Tennis Championship finals? That in itself makes it very difficult to come in from outside the immediate area because hotels are either already full or have jacked up their prices sky high.
