In other News regarding the "Mick Karn" Benefit...
"Atlanta", a complete 2 hour live performance from the Fear of a Blank Planet tour, is now available as a download from the PT store. The show was recorded and mixed to the usual PT standards in order to provide material for a planned live album, but when the decision was taken to film much of the same repertoire in Holland for a major DVD release instead, the Atlanta recording ended up back in the vault. Now PT have now decided to make it available in complete form as a download only release to raise funds for Mick Karn's treatment for cancer. Although the repertoire is similar to that on the Anesthetize DVD, the performance has its own atmosphere, and also includes the first ever officially released live recording of "A Smart Kid".
The mp3s are high quality 320kbps files, and there is a break between tracks 8 and 9 in case you want to burn your own 2 CD set, for which Carl Glover has also provided CD artwork.
Please note that profits from the sale of the Atlanta download will go to Mick Karn and his family.

DAVE KULJU: releases new CD "Notes in the Margin" ...
On June 29th, progressive multi-instrumentalist and Electrum guitarist Dave Kulju is releasing his second solo CD, "Notes In The Margin". To mark the release the CD will be premiered in its entirety on the progressive internet radio station Delicious Agony during the program "The Rickter Scale".
While Kulju's previous recorded work has been all instrumental, the centerpiece of this album is the 5 track, 30 minute epic "A Poet's Talespin" which has lyrics based on the beautiful work of Australian poet Amanda Joy and vocals performed by UK based session vocalist Annie Oya.
The remaining 4 tracks, all instrumentals, include: "Skating On Europa" an extended space rock flavored piece; "Know Again" which has a fusion feel and is laced with haunting electric violin melodies performed by Ian Cameron; "Get The Hell Off My Lawn", a hard driving tune based on nimble guitar/bass riffs, and finally the CD concludes with "Counted The Stars" a short dark piece that is perhaps more tone-poem than traditional composition. The entire record is driven by the outstanding percussion work of session drummer Frank Basile.
Kulju composes and records his music in his home studio in New Hampshire. In addition to his DPRP Recommended 2007 release "Abstract Expression", he has done two CDs "Frames Of Mind" and "Standard Deviation" with his band Electrum. The release date for "Notes In The Margin" is June 29th 2010. Pre-orders can be placed now at www.davekmusic.com. Three free tracks are also available at that address.

DAVID GILMOUR: performs with Rev Al Green - Watch Video...
David Gilmour performed with the legendary Reverend Al Green last weekend on BBC1's Friday Night with... Jonathan Ross. Also in the band, which was put together for one night only, was Jools Holland, his brother Christopher, Gilson Lavis on drums, Lisa Grahame and Phil Veacock taking on saxophone duties, Chris Storr on trumpet, and Barry Campbell, on bass.
Although the rendition of Let's Stay Together was an excellent one, perhaps Mr Gilmour should have used a guitar that was plugged in!! It was barely audible! But I guess it lends itself well to the style of the song. You can enjoy the song below:
ARK: English progressive rock band arK (featuring John Jowitt – iQ, Arena, Frost*) announce new 2010 dates with US Presto Ballet...
arK, the band led by John Jowitt, bass guitarist best known for his work with UK progressive bands IQ, Arena and Frost*, will be joining legendary US progressive rockers Presto Ballet (Kurdt Vanderhoof) for a series of UK dates in September 2010 in the run up to the release of their album, "Wild Untamed Imaginings" on the ProgRock Record label on 5th September.
Joining Jowitt in the 2010 incarnation of arK are original members Tony Short on vocals and flute, Pete Wheatley - lead guitar, Steve Harris - guitar synth, and new member Tim Churchman, formerly of Darwin’s Radio, on drums.
US progressive rockers Presto Ballet were founded by guitarist Kurdt Vanderhoof (Metal Church). Their sound is described as highly reminiscent of 70's prog rock – not surprising, given the band was founded largely to pay homage to the classic progressive bands of that era such as Genesis, Yes and Kansas.
arK will be playing with Presto Ballet on the following dates:
Wed 1st Sep: The Brickmakers, Norwich
Thu 2nd Sep: The 12 Bar, Swindon
Fri 3rd Sep: The Luminaire, Kilburn High Rd, London
Sat 4th Sep: The Wesley Centre, Maltby, Rotherham
Sun 5th Sep: The Robin 2, Bilston, West Midlands
The shows are being promoted by the Classic Rock Society and tickets can be purchased from their website. The Robin gig on 5th September will also be the ‘launch party’ for their arK’s forthcoming album.
arK will be also be supporting the British Neo-Progressive band Frost*, (Jem Godfrey, John Mitchell (guitar), Declan Burke (vocals, guitars), Nathan King (bass), and introducing Craig Blundell on drums) on the following dates in December 2010:
Fri 3rd Dec: o2 Academy, Islington
Sat 4th Dec: Academy 3, Manchester
Sun 5th Dec: The Robin2, Bilston

SIX GALLERY: Postpone European tour after the announcement that vocalist Daniel J Francis will be leaving the band. His replacement will be Daniel Erb (Afortiori) ...
“Unfortunately, this change has forced the band to cancel their upcoming tour in the UK and overseas. We are very sorry to our fans, as well as, the promoters and other bands we were going to be working with on this tour. Rehearsals have begun and new Summer US tour dates will be announced very soon. SIX GALLERY is working hard and looking forward to the continuing to develop with Daniel Erb and we can't wait to see everyone across the States in the next few months. We are currently working very hard to make it up to our fans overseas to reschedule this tour. As soon as we know more, so will you! Stay posted for more updates from the band and new tour dates that will be posted soon!”
FLASHRANGE:ProgRock Records have sent info on a new Russian based project called Flashrange...
Flashrange is a rather fascinating project by a young Russian keyboardist by the name of Andrey Dudkin. He composed the music and then enlisted John Mitchell (Arena, It Bites, Kino, Frost) on vocals, John Jowitt (IQ, ex-Jadis) on bass and Andy Edwards (IQ) on drums to record with him. They put together a very nice 4 song EP entitled "One The Way" that really sounds a lot like something John Mitchell might have done on his own. Details on the album and pre-ordering can be found
HERE.
