The following night TN return the home of the CRS – and are excited to tell you about a very special offer that they are offering everyone who comes along to this particular show.

Twelfth Night are planning to record and film this performance and have engaged the services of a professional company to do this. Providing they get a decent recording of the show, Twelfth Night are offering all ticket holders the opportunity to buy the subsequent DVD at a very special price when it is released.

29 May 2010
Montgomery Hall, Wath-upon-Dearne, Yorkshire
Tickets from the Classic Rock Society (01327 310088)
Oh and by the way, Clive has told the TN press office that a “very old” piece of music will be performed for the first time since 1983, at both London and Wath… now what could that be?

Tickets are still available for both of these shows. At both gigs Twelfth Night plan to play 2 sets, starting around 8pm, and finishing around 10:40pm, with an interval of about 20 minutes somewhere in the middle. This means they will be playing over 2 hours on both nights.

KARNATAKA: split rumours confirmed...

In a shock announcement it has been revealed that three members of Karnataka will be leaving the band, Lisa Fury (vocals), Ian Harris (drums) and Gonzalo Carrera (keyboards) will all be moving on to pastures new. The band released their highly acclaimed fourth album "The Gathering Light" earlier this year and have been touring in support of the CD with more dates arranged throughout the summer. This development leaves Karnataka consisting of founder member Ian Jones along with guitarist Enrico Pinna. A message on the band's website reads:
Dear Karnataka fans and friends... Karnataka is set to begin a new chapter following the announcement that Lisa Fury, Ian Harris and Gonzalo Carrera will be leaving the band. We look forward to bringing you further news and line up announcements in the near future. We also look forward to seeing you on the road! Thank you for your wonderful support! We wish Lisa, Gonzalo and Ian Harris all the best. As one door closes another opens...
The following posting was also uploaded on Lisa Fury's MySpace...
After much consideration and a lot of heartache, we are very sad to announce that with immediate effect Ian Harris, Gonzalo Carrera and Lisa Fury will no longer be members of Karnataka.

We have had to think really hard about this decision particularly after all the hard work & how well received The Gathering Light has been We are very proud of what the album has achieved for all of us.

We are all amazed and humbled by all the fantastic press and feedback from you guys. You truly are fantastic and the reason why we love to play music but, due to very personal reasons we still feel we have no option but to leave the band now.

We know this will be very disappointing for some but please don't worry Karnataka will continue! Ian Jones and Enrico already have some musicians lined up to carry on the journey. Check the Karnataka websites for news & dates etc.

We wish them the best of luck.

Please feel free to look us up on our individual websites MySpace etc for what we will be getting upto in the near future.

We all hope to see you on the road somewhere soon.

Ian H, Gonzalo & Lisa xxx
MUSE: As mentioned in The News of Week 19, Muse have released a new single, Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever).

The band have also confirmed the following Festival dates:
04 SEP 2010 - Manchester Lancashire County Cricket Ground
10 SEP 2010 - London Wembley Stadium
11 SEP 2010 - London Wembley Stadium
RUSH: have also announced a single release - "Caravan" is to hit the streets on 1 June... Planet Rock Radio reports:
Rush - Caravan 2010According to the US Amazon site the song will be released digitally, and Rush fansite Rushisaband reports that the single will be given away on CD to everyone that buys a VIP ticket to see the band’s Time Machine Tour this summer.

The song is backed with what appears to be another brand new track on the B-Side which is entitled BU2B and you can purchase the song with a digital booklet.

Both tracks are listed as “single versions” which suggests that there are longer versions which will presumably feature on the band’s forthcoming album.

Unfortunately, the song is not yet listed on the UK Amazon site, or anywhere else in the UK...
WISHBONE ASH: and more singles news as Wishbone Ash release their first single in 20 years... The new single "Reason To Believe" is available though iTunes ...
DEC BURKE: formerly with Darwin's Radio to release solo album through ProgRock Records ...
...his first release 'Destroy All Monsters' a nine track album coming in at 45mins, it's a more pop take on the prog genre. The sound is described as a meld of Depeche Mode/Foo Fighters. Dec intends to tour to support the CD release and is putting together a live band.

Dec had this to say: "I'm really excited about this release with ProgRock Records, John Jowitt referred me over and Shawn and I came to an agreement within hours. To me it embodies all the things I enjoy about music, catchy melodies and a mix of upbeat and mellow themes, coupled with more technical passages that altogether meld a blend of pop and prog influences. Ultimately a mix of songs that compliment each other.".

"Dec came to my attention with the debut Darwin’s Radio release, the band name caught my eye because I had enjoyed the Greg Bear book by the same name, and the music was no different, great material. Later seeing him work with Frost* further cemented my positive opinion of him, so I was thrilled to work with him on his new solo release.", said Shawn Gordon, President of ProgRock Records.
"Destroy All Monsters" is the new worldwide ProgRock Records release from Dec Burke and can be found HERE. The album will be released early June 2010 and available in stores on September 7, 2010 but is available for immediate pre-sale...

FROST*: Jem Godfrey posts - we're working on contribution to the ELP tribute CD...
I’m currently working on “Fanfare For The Common Man” as part of the ELP tribute CD that’ll be for sale shortly courtesy of “Classic Rock Presents… Prog” magazine. It sounds like everyone’s at it. Magenta have done a track as has Johnny Mitchell and many others by the sounds of it. A few people rolled their eyes at the thought of us doing “Fanfare” saying that it was a bit of a dull choice. On one hand I sort of agree, but then this is Frost*. It was never on the cards that I’d just ape the ELP version. So to that end, I’ve taken the liberty of chartering a boat and have set sail to the land of “Whaaaaaa!” with it. It’s should clock in at about 8 minutes and will hopefully take you on a taxi ride round the neighbourhood of the unhinged...

DEMIANS: follows up his well received 2008 debut, Building An Empire with his sophomore album...
The multi instrumentalist and French music mastermind Nicolas Chapel finished his new DEMIANS album named “Mute”, which will be released throughout Europe on June 28th and in the USA on August 10th 2010! Go to DEMIANS’ MySpace page (www.myspace.com/demiansmusic) and check out the new song “ Swing Of The Airwaves" to get a first impression of the upcoming release.

With the album Nicolas of DEMIANS takes it all to a new level. If the debut album was the calming friend, who reasoned with you and told you everything is going to be alright, the successor "Mute" is the best friend who kicks you in the butt and drives you forward when your world is tumbling down on you.

"I wanted the record to reflect my strengths as well as my weaknesses, so it doesn't sound as pleasing and nice as the first record did” he explains.

“Mute” contains nine songs that range from raw alternative to orchestral parts and poetic sounds, but the focus is always on the song. The influences are diverse, reaching from Tori Amos and Radiohead to Ambient music.

The album was composed and recorded in Normandy in a house near the sea – again a solo effort with real instruments such as cello, double bass, violin, drums, mellotron, piano, guitar – completely without samples. Why alone? “In a band you always compound with the egos of the others. If you write a book you don’t leave the choice of the verbs to one author and the choice of the adjectives to another one.” says Nicolas Chapel.

TRACKLIST:
1. Swing Of The Airwaves (7:27)
2. Feel Alive (4:33)
3. Porcelain (5:33)
4. Black Over Gold (6:10)
5. Overhead (6:33)
6. Tidal (3:47)
7. Rainbow Ruse (5:31)
8. Hesitation Waltz (6:46)
9. Falling From The Sun (4:10)
Demians - Mute 2010
MINDSPLIT: sign to Lion Music ...
Musically MindSplit is a mixture of Progressive Metal and Classical hard rock fronted by vocalist H.B. Anderson (Fire & Ice / Scudiero /Fatal Smile), guitarist Mathias Holm (solo artist), bassist Conny Payne (Madison / Alien), drummer Jon Skäre and keyboardist Jonas Lidström.

Their debut album ‘C.H.A.O.S.’ is an enthralling concept album based on the discovery of H.B. Andersons’ great old great grandfather Xerxes Anderson’s Artificial Universe (a.k.a. Prof. Xandau 1807 ~ 1851) notes from his therapy sessions. Prof. Xandau was a very respected therapist during the first half of 19th century and had his sessions all over the world based in both Europe and the U.S. These notes are the solid ground to this project and are used to tell a true story about psychological thoughts and human behaviours. This story line is set to a musically accomplished and captivating release which will draw the listener in from the first listen.

Full details on the album to be released soon. In the meantime check out the bands official website or MySpace page.
LION MUSIC: also have two new releases in mid June:
Day Six: Lion Music are proud to introduce the signing and debut album from one of the most original new progressive metal bands of recent years - Day Six. Hailing from the Netherlands, Day Six are a first class powerful four piece who produce a mammoth sound of great scope and depth on their debut album ‘The Grand Design’.

With a sound that combines elements from across progressive music’s history, Day Six with ‘The Grand Design' have come up with a unique take on the genre which is equal parts dark and light making great use of dynamics and textures. Comparisons could be made between a fusion of Pink Floyd, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Dream Theater and Opeth where colossal guitar riffs collide and intertwine with synthesized textures and enthralling vocals for a truly mesmerizing effect.
Mastercastle: The ultra powerful Italian metal outfit Mastercastle return on June 18th 2010 with their second album "Last Desire". Led by the soaring vocals of Giorgia Gueglio, the gifted guitar work of Pier Gonella and the tight rhythmic interplay of bassist Steve Vawamas and drummer Alessando Bissa. Mastercastle made a strong impression with their debut album; the 2009 release “The Phoenix” and are back with an even more impressive follow up.

‘Last Desire’ takes a similar path to its predecessor yet sees the debuts neo-classical influences toned down a little and replaced with a straighter hard rock/metal sound making for a more rocking affair. The big riffs Pier Gonella is known for are here in all their glory and Giorgia Gueglio works her vocals into new areas on the new music, whilst the bass work and potent drumming are powerfully produced creating a thunderous sound.

North Atlantic Oscillation return in June with Ceiling Poem, the second single to be taken from the debut album, Grappling Hooks. The track was described as ‘a gentle dreambeat that explodes into a technicolour psych-out’ by Classic Rock and by The Quietus as ‘inverted, unexpectedly Byrds-inflected folktronica’.

Kscope commissioned Stephen Ong, a young animator from Norwich to create an animated promo for the single, which you can see below:

MAG: (Mines Advisory Group) needs your support. Longtime DPRP contributor Ed Sander seeks sponsors or DPRP contributor volunteers in Cambodia...
Mines Advisory Group (MAG)

In November 2010 I will leave for Cambodia for 1.5 weeks to help victims of landmines through MAG ... I'll be building houses for victims of landmines with a team of (probably) 20 people.

MAG (Mines Advisory Group) is a humanitarian organisation that clears remainders of warfare (landmines, bombs, etc) all over the world and helps victims of so-called UXO (unexploded ordnance).

I first got into contact with MAG when visiting Phonsavon in Laos and was very impressed with the excellent work they do there. When I was approached by MAG with the question to participate in their Community Challenge Cambodia 2010 it did not take a lot of hesitation for me to sign up.
