GREG LAKE & KEITH EMERSON: More tour dates postponed and re-scheduled as Greg continues to struggle with throat infection ...
Those of you at the Annapolis show may have heard that Greg was performing with laryngitis.
This has dramatically worsened overnight to the point where he has no voice and after a visit to a specialist today, is under doctor's orders not to sing again until Thursday at the Nokia. The doctor's decision was made at 5:00 pm. We had hoped that the doctor would be able to provide a solution that would allow Greg to go on but that was not medically possible.
Keith Emerson tried to go to the Birchmere on behalf of Greg and himself to tell fans face to face and meet with those who were patiently waiting and were on their way, but unfortunately there were legal and security issues which prevented him from doing so.
Naturally both Keith and Greg feel horrible about this turn of events and the show will be played on 9 May.
Further updates can be found at Greg Lakes website.

Thorgerson is well known for designing some of the most eye catching album covers in rock history but the retrospective is not only an exhibition of his most celebrated album covers but also offers a unique insight into the otherworldly and incongruous work Storm is carrying out today. The exhibition runs between April 2nd and May 2nd.

PORCUPINE TREE: are to premiere Anesthetize live film at London’s Leicester Square
"Anesthetize", a new live film from Porcupine Tree is to be premiered at a special screening in the Prince Charles Cinema at London’s Leicester Square on Thursday May 20th at 7pm. The screening will be introduced by the band and filmmaker. Members of the band will also be available to sign copies of the film, which is being released on Kscope as 2disc set (DVD + Blu-Ray), following the screening.
A limited number of tickets for this special evening are available to purchase from the cinema ( www.princecharlescinema.com / 0870 811 2559) for only £10 (plus 75p booking fee).
Anesthetize follows the band’s latest album The Incident which was released last year to massive critical acclaim. The album marked another step forward in the incredible journey of the band from a solo studio project created by Steven Wilson in the late eighties to a grammy nominated act and one of the world’s most revered live bands, currently selling out arenas across the globe and wowing fans with their incredible performances.
This 130 minute film captures the power of band’s live show. Directed by long-time collaborator Lasse Hoile, the film was recorded in high definition on multi-cameras over two nights at 013 venue in Tilburg, Holland in October 2008. The concerts featured tracks from throughout the band’s career until that point including a complete performance of the Fear Of A Blank Planet album.
Anesthetize collects the highlights from the two shows and presents them on both DVD and on Blu-Ray. It is only the band’s second DVD release and will be available on Kscope in May 2010 as either a 2-disc set (DVD + Blu-Ray) or as a single disc (DVD) release.
A limited 4-disc (DVD, Blu-Ray + 2CD) special edition version will also be available exclusively through the band’s website (www.porcupinetree.com). The special edition will take the form of a cloth bound hard back 120 page book featuring live photography of the band taken over the last 5 years. The CDs of the soundtrack also include one bonus track not featured in the film.
More info and a preview of the film is now online at KScope

Deluxe 2cd edition of the classic No-Man album available to pre-order – now with bonus disc featuring mini-album, b-sides & rarities including four previously unreleased tracks.
Wild Opera, No-Man's third album, released in 1996, is regarded as the most inventive and unpredictable album in the band's catalogue. The new 2 disc Kscope edition of the album is now available to pre-order from the
Kscope store.
Rapidly shifting from distorted grooves to sinister, Jazz-inflected Trip-Hop and from choked Rock riffs to more traditional ballad fare, Wild Opera represented a thrilling departure for the band and has since become seen as a classic one-of-a-kind statement of uncompromising creative intent.
Long out of print, the original CD is now a highly - sought after rarity, with copies changing hands for over £100 on Ebay.
This deluxe 2CD reissue additionally includes all of the Dry Cleaning Ray mini-album, alongside b-sides and exclusive rarities from the era. The media-book packaging features new artwork created by long-time No-Man/Porcupine Tree collaborator Carl Glover.
THE RESONANCE ASSOCIATION: two new projects in the pipeline from Daniel Vincent and Dominic Hemy…
HELIOPAUSE PRELUDE will be a mix of tracks left over from the "Clarity In Darkness" album sessions, plus an extended taster of the band's fourth album HELIOPAUSE. Daniel Vincent comments "... the fourth album brings the narrative - which spans the last three albums - to a natural conclusion ... beyond that point we can truly head into the unknown". The free EP is expected to be available to download later this month exclusively from www.mrsvee.co.uk.
NO SECRETS, ONLY CODES will be a limited release: a T-shirt designed by collaborator and all-round good egg Carl Glover will include, in its design, a link to a new piece of music. Those that buy the T-shirt from the mrs.vee recordings store at BurningShed.com will also receive the track on CD. Expect a pre-order in the next couple of weeks, with delivery starting in late April, early May.
The best way to keep up-to-date with the latest releases from mrs.vee recordings is to download a free album or EP from www.mrsvee.co.uk.
These releases follow hot on the heals of their "Clarity In Darkness" album.
SPOCK'S BEARD: new album nears completion although no official date has been set. Excerpts from the album can be heard on the Spock’s MySpace site
WATCHTOWER: Tech metallers Watchtower upload taster of new album...
Austin, Texas technical metal godfathers WATCHTOWER have released a preliminary mix of a song from their upcoming album "Mathematics", now streaming exclusively on their MySpace page. The track features the lineup from the legendary "Control and Resistance" album, with Alan Tecchio (vocals) joining Ron Jarzombek (guitar), Doug Keyser (bass), and Rick Colaluca (drums) on this special release of "The Size of Matter", track number eight on "Mathematics".
Engineered and mixed by Ron Jarzombek, with vocals mixed by Jon "Jonny Rod" Ciorciari and mastering done by Jacob Hansen (BLOTTED SCIENCE, VOLBEAT, DESTRUCTION), "The Size of Matter" marks the band's first new piece of original music since 1989's "Control and Resistance". According to Keyser, "'Mathematics' is a natural evolution of the style on our previous records, with all of the craziness 'TOWER fans would expect. We really wanted to make this special version of the song available in advance of our festival appearance and we look forward to premiering it live for some of the most die-hard fans anywhere."
WATCHTOWER will perform on April 23rd at the Keep It True festival in Lauda, Germany, the band's first European show since headlining the Headway festival in Holland in 2004.
ALGERNON: Chicago based announce several US dates kicking off on 17 April 2010...
The band will be promoting their recently released their third album Ghost Surveillance distributed through the Cuneiform label.
Fostering an atmosphere that relies on composition and a larger sonic palette, Algernon creates a fusion of indie rock, jazz, and classical chamber music. The effect is that of a distinctly modern band, providing musical clues to our modern landscape. In the process, Algernon engulfs the listener in an entirely different world of its own making. With combined experience in genres from jazz to hard rock, from punk to classical, the band is well equipped to deliver on the promise.
In short, the band can't be summed up neatly. Algernon simply rocks too hard to be considered jazz, and they play with too much finesse and sheer musical ability to be called just another rock band. Algernon doesn't simply wish to play songs: the band is here to turn your entire world upside down.
More information can be found at the Cuneiform website, the bands official website or MySpace page.

The boxset which goes on general sale at the beginning of May contains: 15 previously unreleased tracks, previously unreleased 1969 recording from The Fudge's New Year's Eve concert at the Fillmore West and a re-creation of a vintage Fudge concert poster designed by Family Dog.
REDEMPTION: have to cancel intended European tour .... Here's what Nick van Dyk from the band had to say:
Dear friends, I am sorry to say that we are faced with the reality of having to cancel Redemption's intended European shows the summer.
Part of our unique sound comes from our vocalist, Ray Alder of Fates Warning. As a long-time fan of Fates myself, I have always maintained that Redemption would not interfere with Ray's commitment to Fates, and we have worked very carefully and diligently since Ray joined Redemption in 2005 to ensure that both bands would be able to record and perform without conflict.
We intended to play several shows in several countries this summer in support of our new CD, "Snowfall on Judgment Day". Our management and local promoters in Europe worked hard to line up some great shows that we were very much looking forward to playing. Originally, there was no conflict, even when Fates announced some special shows and festivals to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their fantastic Parallels CD.
However, some additional shows were then added on Fates' schedule. We intended to carry on and simply reschedule some of our dates, shortening the tour to ensure that there would not be a conflict. Again, our management and local promoters worked hard to ensure we'd be able to do this. It became economically more difficult, but Redemption was prepared to accept that since we really wanted to play for our fans in Europe. As of a week ago, we still intended to move forward.
However, after considering it, Ray determine that the schedule -- which would have involved him performing headline sets with us, then taking a very long flight, having only a brief time to recover before performing headline sets with Fates, then having to fly back to Europe and perform again -- is simply too much to take on. There's just no way to do it while performing at the level that I know Ray wants to.
So I'm left with the unfortunate reality that we're not going to be able to play Europe this summer. Please understand we've done everything we can to find a solution -- but none were available to us. We look forward to coming to Europe at another time, and thank you for your interest and support. Nik

NICK D'VIRGILIO: moves to Montreal for New Job
In an update to his website on April 3rd, Spock’s Beard drummer and vocalist Nick D'Virgilio has announced that he has moved from California and has been living in Montreal, Canada since January 20th because of a job opportunity with Canadian entertainment company Cirque Du Soliel (www.cirquedusoleil.com). Described on their website as a dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment, NDV will be playing drums and singing for Cirque Du Soleil. INTENTIONS: reborn with new keyboardplayer ...
André de Vries, one of the founders of Intentions, has left the band to pursue other passions besides music. The band was sad to see him go, but says the his departure was not unexpected. It became apparent that André no longer wished to keep up with the increasing number of performances and pressure due to the international demand for their debut 'Place in Time'. Intentions has luckily found a worthy replacement with Dirk v/d Plas, who played in several bands including Brooklyn and Screaming Turtles. The footage from the first show with Dirk v/d Plas in 'the Spieghel' in Groningen can be viewed on their YouTube Channel.
DAY SIX: Dutch progressive rock/metal band Day Six sign with Lion Music for their new album "The Grand Design" ...
Since forming in 2002, Day Six have become a mainstay on the live Dutch music scene and won two major competitions in the Netherlands: the Metal Battle and the Aardschok Metal Bash. As a result Day Six have grown to be one of the most well known progressive metal bands in the Netherlands and with the worldwide release of “The Grand Design”, Lion Music aim to introduce the band to a wider audience.
With a sound that combines elements from across progressive music’s history, the band have come up with a unique take on the genre which is equal parts dark and light making great use of dynamics and textures. Comparisons could be made between a fusion of Pink Floyd, Rush and Opeth where colossal guitar riffs collide and intertwine with synthesized textures for a truly mesmerizing effect.
“Day Six – The Grand Design” comprises of 9 tracks and clocks in at over 70 minutes and it set for release on Lion Music on June 18th 2010. A preview sampler of the album can be heard at the bands official website and MySpace.
