KING'S X:InsideOut Music are to release King's X 2CD - DVD/2CD "Live Love In London" on 26 October 2010...
International music critics and rock gourmets agree: King’s X is among the most unusual acts in the history of rock music. Their technical skills are above reproach, and their creativity has impressed fans and media alike. Next to Rush, there is currently no other rock trio capable of producing such a dense and at the same time transparent sound. The much anticipated double CD/DVD set, Live Love in London, showcases prime examples of King’s X’s incredible live show of classic groove rock featuring great melodies with vocal harmonies, driving rhythms and tough guitars. The album is set for an Oct. 26th release through InsideOut Music and will be available as a deluxe DVD+2CD edition in a special embossed package, as well as a 2CD set. A standard DVD-only version will also be available exclusively through CMDistro. Live Love in London is the first official DVD release by a band renowned for just such a transcendent rock show! The King’s X trio of Ty Tabor (guitars, vocals), Dug Pinnick (bass, vocals) and Jerry Gaskill (drums, vocals) have spanned continents and decades together, honing their craft, welcoming their fans in to experience inspired performances that come from their hearts.
Live Love in London was shot in January of 2009 at the Electric Ballroom in London, UK, because, as Tabor states, "London was the first place that accepted King's X. It has always been my favorite place to play." Pinnick recalls, "We were touring the US, playing for very small crowds, then we went to London; it was the Marquee and it was sold out!" Gaskill agrees, “London was the first place to make me feel like we might actually be a valid band.”
The band will also tour with Accept kicking off on 23 September 2010. A full list of dates can be found at the King's X website...
Composer and multi-instrumentalist ARJEN LUCASSEN has firmly established himself worldwide as driving force in progressive rock. While best known for his rock opera project AYREON, the multi-talented Dutchman also regularly embarks on musical side projects, which explore different aspects of Lucassen's musical personality. As his previous project (GUILT MACHINE’s "On This Perfect Day" 2009) was a relatively relaxed and subtle affair, LUCASSEN's muses responded by urging him to record something loud, heavy and anything but subtle for this new release. Thus it was a perfect opportunity to launch his musical spacecraft towards the galaxy of bombastic sci-fi rock by revisiting his STAR ONE project.
The result is the album "Victims of the Modern Age," the follow-up to the STAR ONE debut album, “Space Metal” (2002). Compared to "Space Metal," the overall sound of "Victims Of The Modern Age" is darker, heavier, more guitar-oriented, and slightly less "spacey”. ARJEN has also raised the bar significantly when it comes to the album's sound: "I think it's my best sounding album to date; it's a huge difference compared to the first STAR ONE. For the guitars I spent weeks experimenting with different amps and settings in every combination imaginable -- and it was worth it. The drums sound fantastic, and the vocalists all outdid themselves, putting in even stronger performances than they did the first time around."
“Victims Of The Modern Age” will be released on Insideout Music | EMI in GAS on October 29th and in Europe on November 01st. With its stellar musicianship, strong melodies, meticulous production and compelling concept, STAR ONE "Victims of the Modern Age" is yet another exciting project from one of rock's great visionaries. Please check Arjens VIDEO MESSAGE presenting cast of lead vocalists and the concept of “Victims Of The Modern Age” featuring
Russell Allen (Symphony X)
Damian Wilson (Headspace, Threshold)
Floor Jansen (ReVamp, ex-After Forever)
Dan Swanö (Nightingale, Second Sky, ex-Edge Of Sanity)

RUSH:Planet Rock have news of a recent interview with Rush's Alex Lifeson, who in a recent interview reveals more on the new "Clockwork Angels" album...
In a new interview Rush’s Alex Lifeson has revealed a little more about the band’s forthcoming new studio album, Clockwork Angels.
In an interview with The Morning Call, Lifeson says the band has six songs pretty much ready to go and three others almost done. The group plans to write at least a couple of additional songs after the tour. At this point, the CD is shaping up to be a musically varied work.
"There is the epic song, 'Clockwork Angels,' which is really taking shape. It's a multi-parted piece, very dynamic," Lifeson says. "Then there's some stuff that's very melodic and on the softer side, on acoustic, with a strong melody. So there's great diversity there. Honestly, I can't wait until we start really working on these songs. We've sort of got them to the stage where Geddy and I were happy with the arrangements and then Neil kind of comes in and starts working on his drum arrangements, and they go from there. So they're sort of in that pre-drum stage right now, and it's great to see them come to life".
"We've got this great feeling of promise for this album and some of the material on it," Lifeson says. "I think it's all going to work out really great."
The band are due to wrap their Time Machine Tour on 17 October and they will take a Christmas break before heading back into the studio to finish the album early in 2011.
It’s hoped that the album will arrive early in summer 2011 with a full tour to follow.
In other Rush news and according to the Chilean newspaper El Mercurio the band will play Estadio Nacional in Santiago, Chile on 17 October 2010...
QUEENSRŸCHE: have signed a "new multi-album, worldwide record deal" with Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records...
Four-time Grammy nominees Queensryche have signed a multi-album, worldwide deal with Roadrunner/Loud & Proud Records. The band’s label debut – their twelfth studio album overall- is tentatively scheduled for a Spring 2011 release. Singer and founder Geoff Tate remains the creative nucleus of the band, which continues to make relevant, against-the-grain hard rock that entices fans, both new and diehard.
Queensryche have been – and unquestionably remain - one of the most respected and innovative names in forward-thinking hard rock throughout the course of their nearly 30-year history. Since their inception over 25 years ago, Queensryche have sold over 20 million albums worldwide and have performed in over 22 countries.
“We are very happy to be signing with Road Runner/Loud and Proud. This is the rock label and a place where they are as excited about our music as we and our fans are ...” Tate said.
“We are excited to welcome Queensryche to the label” stated Loud & Proud President Tom Lipsky. “They have earned global acclaim for their distinctive approach to music and we are confident of a successful partnership with them.”
Queenryche’s 1988-issued album Operation: Mindcrime is universally respected as a classic concept release about rock, revenge and redemption. The album elicited comparisons to The Who’s Tommy and Pink Floyd’s The Wall and is ultimately regarded as one of the most important and essential hard rock records in the genre’s expansive canon. 1990’s follow-up, Empire, yielded a #1 single, the Grammy-nominated ballad “Silent Lucidity,” which the band performed at the 1992 Grammy Awards accompanied by a supporting orchestra.
In 2006, the band released Operation: Mindcrime II, a scorching sequel to their original. The band then hit the road performing both albums Operation: Mindcrime and Operation: Mindcrime II back-to-back in their entirety in an incredible theatrical presentation throughout the year. The final performance was recorded at The Moore Theatre in Seattle that October and the Mindcrime at the Moore double CD/DVD release debuted at #1 on Billboard’s Top Music DVD Chart and eventually reached Gold status.
In other news the band have "partnered" with Capitol/EMI to release a 2CD, 20th Anniversary Edition of Empire. Included are the remastered album, thirteen bonus tracks (including ten previously unreleased live songs from 1990's London's Hammersmith Odeon gig).
For more information on the band then visit their official website.
UNITOPIA: announce guest sax player Ian Ritchie...
Peter, our regular sax player cannot be with us on tour and there was no way we were performing without one, so we had to look for just the right person to fill his shoes. After a lot of searching, Unitopia is proud to announce our very special guest sax player for the tour, Ian Ritchie.
Ian’s main activities are composing for TV programs and commercials and gigging as a saxophonist with a variety of bands. On the playing front he has completed a world tour with Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters, performing ‘Dark Side Of The Moon’ and other Floyd favourites from 2006 to 2008. We'll be playing 2 sets at each gig: an acoustic set and a full electric set, so you'll get a double dose of The Reasoning! These really aren't to be missed, as anyone who saw the show at The Peel last month, or who made it along to any of our recent acoustic shows, will testify (and more on the acoustic shows later).

In fact, we were so delighted with how it went that we've decided to release the perfomance on DVD. "Acoustically Speaking" : if you haven't got your copy yet, get in fast as it's selling out quickly! It's had a brilliant review in the latest edition of Classic Rock Presents PROG (as has our High Voltage appearance) and you it's only available here for £9.99 plus P&P or, if you prefer, you can download it for a mere £5 from our Bandcamp site in your choice of 320k mp3, FLAC, or just about any other format you could possibly desire.
We've had a great time over the last couple of weeks taking Acoustically Speaking on the road at gigs that have been put on by some of our wonderful fans and friends ,and we'd like to say a huge "thank you" to Gareth "Taff" Jones, Irene Rainey, Natasha Osman, Chris Hayton, Dave Piggford, Julian Hackett and Linda Mason for all the hard work they've put in and the enthusiasm they have for The Reasoning. You rock!

ECHO US: digitally release third album on 14 September, ahead of the extended CD...
Echo Us' "Tomorrow Will Tell The Story" brings the themes of 2009's "The Tide Decides" to new conclusion while encompassing a natural sonic evolution for the Pacific NW based concept project. Tomorrow fuses rich tapestries of atmosphere wrapped around sparse lead vocals and intricate field-recorded beats, brought forth by a symphonic underscore and vocalizations from an alien world. Lyrically the album fuses light and dark into a single omni-jective source using sources channeled by automatic writing.
Echo Us again features the talents of Ethan Matthews (multi instruments) and Raelyn Olson (harp) but also adds the lush vocals Grammy-nominated vocalist Henta. Echo Us has put together as much information about "Tomorrow..." as possible including cover art and an album promo trailer.
An abridged version of the album will hit digital retailers by September 14th, 2010 and be followed by an extended cd release including bonus tracks later in the year.
In it's decade long history, Echo Us has weaved a wide and unique sound web. At times considered close to Enigma, Mike Oldfield, Vangelis and other ambient pioneers, Echo Us has also been cited as creating a genre all it's own; a fusion of modern vocal electronica, progressive rock and deep ambient atmospherics. Tomorrow Will Tell The Story completes a unique musical journey, but as the title suggests- implies the beginning of another.

A DAY'S WORK: call it a day...
Dutch rockers A Day's Work call it a day, says singer Paul Glandorf today...
“Although we launched a great last EP, we couldn't all find the time and drive to go on."
A Day's Work has had a great career with shows all over Europe. Highlights were the European Tours with Marillion, supporting Snow Patrol and the recent release of their EP 'Remember The Unknown' which has had overwhelming reviews.
“Right now all of us are very busy with our various careers. Unfortunately, for some of us this meant that A Day's Work could no longer be their toppriority. That's unacceptable. We can't live up to our ambitions that way." explains Paul.
The band thanks their fans for their incredible support.
On October 22nd, A Day's Work will play their final show at Victorie in Alkmaar, the Netherlands. Here they will perform 'Remember The Unknown' entirely for the first time, besides playing older songs. Which makes this show a unique event.
Dutch bands SemiStereo and The Self Employed will support A Day's Work that night.

FREAKSHOW ARTROCK FESTIVAL 2010 – PART II: to be held on 25 September and featuring Aranis, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and Magama...
although we have already had our festival back in march starring quite a bunch of great newcomers to the scene, we decided to do a second part of it in autumn, due to the fact, that our dearest friends of SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM will be back again in europe for quite ONE week, guesting at the prestigious RIOFESTIVAL in CARMAUX in the south of france and once again in WÜRZBURG.
and because there are some people around here that are dedicated followers of the french cult band MAGMA, we thought about arranging a double feature starring ONE cult band that draws its fame from the past up to the present, and ONE cult band that seems to be firmly rooted in the present with a nod here and there to some of the greats of the past of advanced rock music!!!
so when we were about to arrange things for this DOUBLE FEATURE, another of our favourites jumped in, announcing the release of their 4th record in autumn and wanting to do a show with their newly recruited drummer (THEY DID NOT HAVE ONE BEFORE!!!) in WÜRZBURG in the wake of aforementioned RIOFESTIVAL, where he (the drummer) will certainly be present as representative of his own record company. we are talking about DAVE KERMAN (drummer of PRESENT and THINKING PLAGUE), who is guesting on the soon to be released ALTROCK label effort by belgium chamberrock ensemble ARANIS.
so now we are very proud to announce the FREAKSHOW ARTROCK FESTIVAL 2010 – PART II as a one-day festival on the 25th of SEPTEMBER.

GLASS HAMMER: Adrian Jones from Caerllysi Music has interviewed Steve Babb from Glass Hammer about the New Album "IF" - you can read it HERE.
SCOTT MOSHER: has just self-published a new photography book - The View From There...
"THE VIEW TO THERE" is a 100-page 9x7 soft cover book with over 130 full-color photographs that documents some of the truly awe-inspiring outdoor landscapes of the fine state of California. It seems there's a little bit of everything within a days travel and hopefully the pictures in this book do the locations a bit of visual justice. The old adage "you have to see it for yourself" certainly applies, but hey, I did the driving and the suffering for your viewing pleasure. You don't even have to leave the comforts of your home to visit some of these truly remarkable places. In short, enough visual inspiration to make Bob Ross cry tears of pure inspirational pleasure (those happy little clouds would be so... happy.)
ECHOES: have posted the first of a series of official live videos. Click here to watch the band in rehearsal...
